Australia vs India - Day Two's Key Moment

79059432 Our photo shows Irfan Pathan in typically ebullient mood in the middle of an extraordinary day's play at the WACA. Irfan started the day scoring 20 of the 33 runs India were able to add to their overnight 297-6 as the last four wickets wee surrendered for just two runs.

Still in the early stages of rebuilding a stalled career, he was soon back on the paddock as the senior seamer (at 23!) with the mere matter of Hussey and co to dismiss in 40 degrees of steamy heat. Knowing that Australia's opening stands this season have been 69, 48, 83, 135, 83, 85, 1, a breakthrough was needed to lift Indian spirits and get at a curiously vulnerable Punter. In just two overs, Irfan had sent both openers back to the hutch, the scoreboard read 13-2 and the momentum had shifted again, as it tends to in excellent Test cricket.

The Trumpet really likes Irfan Pathan - he's a very handy swinging lefty who is getting his pace back and a true Number 8 with potential to bat 7. He also loves the game and, lest we forget that India is home to 150 million Muslims, loves his country. Welcome back to the big stage Mr Pathan, one of the game's good guys.
