Peter Moores does not read "The Hindu", but perhaps he should
This from The Observer's interview with Michael Vaughan today, "Using the traditional method he should have been bowling over the wicket, but he came around to the left-handers. He was changing the angles again. The guys would not have seen that before and I guarantee they would not have practised that. Zaheer - and I think he was the man coming up with all the ideas - kept doing the unexpected."
And this from "The Hindu" of 31 December 2005, "Balwinder Singh Sandhu, coach of West Zone and Baroda said, "Zaheer has shortened his run-up. He feels very comfortable and is accurate. He is able to swing both ways and is effective while bowling round the wicket. Now he bursts towards the bowling crease and his action is behind the ball. Right through the season, he has surprised batsmen with short balls and movement. Well, one cannot expect him to bowl consistently at 145 plus. I have videographed his bowling and have found out that he achieves good pace while in his rhythm.'"

Who would of thought. Test batsman that have never seen a bowler hurl then down from around the wicket. All those nasty angles. Trigonometry is difficult without a scientific calculator or at the very least some tables. Really the ICC should do something about it.
Obviously Michael is lyng and yet the interviewer accepts this rubbish. And it seems so do most of the English public.
What the hell is happening to cricket in the UK? Has everybody lost there senses? Do people really believe this garbage?
I'm guessing Michael wasn't concentrating when Fred kept bowling around the wicket to Gilly and Katich on the last tour.
At least when Fred was captain he didn't lie to cover his failures. He just fessed up and went to the pub instead. Vaughan's comments display a complete disdain towards the general cricketing public.
Good job Toots. Time to put in the resume at the ECB.

I'm not sure he is lying Nesta (particularly since the argy-bargy over the supposed "Fredalo" misquote with the same newspaper group). This incredulity at the left-arm round attack (RP Singh too, whom I'm sure has used this line since breaking into the team) has been pretty consistent from the England camp.
I'd guess the surprise is the result of a bit of old fashioned English complacency about Indian cricket, allied to a lack of appetite for the hard yards. I don't know if Zaheer went round the wicket in bowling more overs than any other seamer in the County Championship of 2006, but I suspect he did, given the quote above dates from December 2005. Didn't anyone speak to Vikram Solanki or the coaching staff at Worcestershire?
It really isn't good enough in these days of bowling machines to be surprised by a bowler.
Seems the 2-1 still holds more sway than the 5-0 for English cricket. Back to the drawing board.
