Performance of the Weekend - Chris Adams

74057972 Having spent the morning watching cricket's future play a decent level of cricket, the Trumpet salutes players who really should be part of cricket's past, or at least shuffling in that direction. Instead, despite poses like this which are only struck by men past the age of 35, Chris Adams and his old pros just keep rolling along. Friday saw Durham bowled out by Jason Lewry (36), Naved-ul-Hasan (29, but looks 40) and Mushtaq Ahmed (37, but plays 20). Grizzly Adams (37) then got stuck in with 193 supported by Murray Goodwin (34), to set up an innings win wrapped up by the same bowlers supplemented by Robin Martin-Jenkins (31). These old men now top the table - seems like Grizzly might be leaning on his bat giving it the half-teapot in exasperation at the folly of youth for a little while longer. Maybe a PotD will cheer him up.
