Group A: Australia pan South Africa by 83 runs
The obviously rubbish and washed up Australia have shown just how truly awful they have become by clobbering the number one ranked side in the World all round the park for fun in this Group A decider.
South Africa put Australia in to bat and the World Champs signalled their intent by clubbing 33 runs from the first four overs. Matthew Hayden was the pick of the Aussie batsmen with his impressive 101 off an incredible 68 balls, but only just, as Ponting (91) and Clarke (92) were not shy with the blade either. The Proteus simply could not stem the flow of runs, and their lack of a classy slow bowling option looks to be their achilles heel in this tournament.
South Africa did their best to match the Aussie power in reply, with openers AB de Villiers (92 off 70) and Graeme Smith (74 off 70) getting them moving. However after the loss of this pairing the runs dried up, the wickets did not, and they were skittled for 294 in 48 overs.
Australia looked fairly awesome in all departments, South Africa just looked passable with the bat, and the Aussies will now carry two points with them into the Super 8. All in all, it is easy to predict who will go furthest in this particular tournament.
