World Cup Greatest Moments: Vaas' hat-trick 2003

Hat-tricks are rare. Hat-tricks with your first three balls are rarer still.  If those balls are also the first three of a match then the likelihood of it happening are so statistically prohibitive that it falls into the realms of Richard Madeley's impersonation of Ali G - unless you had seen it you would never believe it.  But see it we did in 2003 when Sri Lanka faced Bangladesh.

Chaminda Vaas has always been a tidy bowler who gives batsmen little width to work with, but this hat-trick had everything - an ash rattler, a caught & bowled and a classic edge. [lee calvert]
