Liam Plunkett bladdered and driving

England's occasionally impressive prospect Liam Plunkett has been banned from driving for 20 months after being caught in his car nearly twice the legal limit.  The fast-bowler was returning from a night out at the Tall Tress nightclub in Yarm, Teesside. 

The Mr Punch-faced bowler said, "I am deeply sorry for what I did and there is simply no excuse for it. I acted irresponsibly."  To be fair there may have been an excuse, I've been to Tall Trees and it's miles away from anywhere What was he supposed to do?  It's not like he can afford a taxi on his central contract is it?

A police source has said that even though he was driving on the pavement, he was still not as wide as in the opening spell he bowled completely sober in the 3rd CB series match against the Kiwis. [lee calvert]
