Tales of woe
England's tour of India reminds me of their trip to Australia some years ago. I think it was 1994-95 when, almost as soon as the plane had touched down (or even before), a whole load of players started falling over, twisting their knees, elbows, necks and whatever else. It was an utter farce. Steve Harmison has joined a nice long list of broken English cricketers and won't play in the third Test. Great. Roll on Shaun Udal who turns 37 on the first day (Saturday).
Ashley Giles unable to travel with squad after hip surgery; Ian Blackwell called up
Skipper Michael Vaughan suffers knee trouble during a warm-up game
Vice-captain Marcus Trescothick leaves the tour for personal reasons
Simon Jones injures left knee during practice and flies home with Vaughan
Vaughan sees surgeon in Sheffield and is ruled out of rest of Test series
England confirm Trescothick will not return to India; Vaughan, Jones and Giles ruled out of rest of tour
